Powerless

This week in class we had to watch a video called Powerless, then we had to chose if we wanted to do quick write on a small part of the movie or we could be one of the characters. I chose to be a character in the movie. Also Mrs Cameron told us that we had to use A very short sentence, to start your sentence with an AAAWWUBBIS, to start a sentence with an LY word, to use an em - dash and to use an interrupter sentence.
Here is the link to the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiBy-bRbJn8

As I flutter through the sky, I notice a cabin. “There might be someone in there who can save my friend” I say to myself.  I look through the window to see, a giant robot right in front of me. I peer inside the cabin to see if there is a way for me to get in. I see it. I fly round to the back of the house and squeeze through the hole. Quickly I zoom into the pipe on top of the robot and start the engine. Bolts of lightning fly off the robot. The boiler starts to heat up. The lights come on. “ He’s alive, he’s alive,” I say to myself.

The robot walks out the brown, wooden door into the forest and notices a red fairy stuck under a log. The robot-grey and slim, then puts his tin hands under the log and pushes. He's not strong enough. Suddenly, a man comes over and starts pushing as well. She’s free. I fly out of the robot to go see my friend. Then the robot dies. When the man leaves, my friend and I sprinkle dust on robot.  Robot is back.

Rainbow Cupcake Packaging

For our inquiry, Designed To Sell, we have been asked to come up with a product we can sell. My product is Rainbow Cupcakes. The cupcakes a re fully rainbow, rainbow batter and rainbow icing. Firstly we had to find the ingredients used and create a list of how much it would cost to make a batch. It costs 50 cents per box of four mini cupcakes. Then we had to make a batch and get our class to taste test them and come up with some additions to make them better. We also had to create the packaging with our logo, company name, product name, ingredients list, allergies list, non/profit, artificial/ non and preservatives.

Here is my packaging:

Character Vignette

This week for writing we have been working on our character vignettes. We had to look at a picture and write what we think he was doing, thinking, saying and how he felt. This is the picture:
You also had to describe sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.
We had to use punctuation that was at Level 3.

Here is my writing:

Waiting… waiting… And they're off. Zooming round the track. My favourite, the red and blue one, is coming first.
“I wish dad was here to see this, oh yeah, but he’s at his stupid conferences,” I said to myself. I leaned back onto the wire fence feeling sad and lonely. It felt like something jabbing me in the back.

As soon as I landed on the wire, a car that had come from the showgrounds zoomed past at full speed. All the leaves in front of me flew up from the ground and made tornadoes. It was such a wonderful sight that I started spinning as well. When I was spinning, I didn’t know where I was going, so I spun onto the track. Everyone started shouting at me then… BANG! A race car hit me.  A shooting pain ran up my leg. As I ran off the track crying people started surrounding me. More and more tears ran down my cheeks.

I ran back to the car, my babysitter wasn’t there. I went searching for her, I couldn’t find her. I started to sweat. There I was standing scared in the middle of nowhere. Then suddenly someone came up to me and asked “Are you alright. I saw what happened there, you were just having fun weren’t you.”
“ Yes, but everyone ruined it,” I said feeling a bit better. Then I looked up and realized that I was talking to my babysitter. I asked her if we could leave, she said “Yes.” We drove off through the fog. Still glancing back.

Here is mine.

Calendar Art

For calendar art our class chose to do Zentangle. We had to pick an animal, and zentangle inside it. It wasn't that hard. I chose a cat. I chose a cat because it looked very easy. Some of the other animals chosen were horses, cats, a sheep, elephants and a gorilla. We had to use a fountain pen and a out line of a animal.
Hope you like mine.

Geometric Patterns

This week we did some geometric patterns. The tools we used were a protractor, a ruler, a sharp pencil and colouring pencils. Some of the shapes in side of the circle is hexagon, a star, a triangle, a diamond and a circle. We had to use degrees such as 60 degrees,120 degrees,180 degrees,240 degrees and a few more. We had to do diagonal lines. For mine I put a dot every 60 degrees using my protractor.

Writing

For a couple of weeks now my class have been writing on a picture we were given. This is the picture.
ManuelToribio-THE%20FLIGHT[1].jpg

In our writing we had to use complex sentences. ( Serial, interrupter and opener sentences ).  We also had to use short powerful sentences.

Here is my writing :)

This is it. I am ready. But I still have no idea why I chose to do this dare on such a gloomy day. My friends are staring in surprise.
Waiting. Waiting. Waiting…..
“Hurry up,” they say. As I look around I see the Sky Tower. I wonder why I didn’t  jump off that instead? My mind is telling me “Don’t do this, don’t do this”. I pull all my strength together and say “I can’t do thi”… But it’s too late. I jump! As I fly through the air, I’m thinking of how cold the water will be or how hard I will smack onto the water.
I look down to see my reflection looking back at me. It’s coming at me fast.  “SPLASH!” I’m in. It’s freezing like ice.

The Four Days I had to Look After an Egg

Last week Mrs Cameron gave each person in my class an egg. We had to name our egg, build a house for the egg and put a face on the egg. I named my egg Mr Eggcellent. We also had to make an egg diary but I forgot to do the last day. Here is some pictures and the diary of  my egg.

Foul Shot-Soccer

Last week my class wrote a poem about any sport we wanted. I did my poem on scoring a goal. We had to use verbs and have 2 stanzas. We also had to put each action on a new line. Writing these types of poems was quite hard. I hope you can follow my class.

Here is my poem!

My Foul Shot

She shouts for the ball,
It zips about 2 meters from her,
She sprints for it
“Stomp”
Her foot on the spiraling ball,
She peers around,
Eyes concentrated,
No ones there,
Focus
Breathe
Bang

The ball takes flight,
Flies over two people
Bounces off the pole,
Spins,
Swirls,
Lands,

She can hear her coach saying “good try”
And then
                           And then
                                                    And then,
She boots the ball,
And… scores.

Writing to the Unknown Soldier

The Flanders poppy distributed

As part of our ANZAC day inquiry we were asked to write to the Unknown Soldier.
We had to think about the soldier and how it was at war we were also told to use complex sentences, short powerful sentences and paragraphs.
Try and see if I used any of those things!

To the soldier that I never knew,

As I write this letter to you, I feel safe and away from war. These tears in my eyes are made for you. I cannot imagine what it’s like at war but I’m guessing that you have to know what you're doing.

How did you feel when you were told to kill people or when you were given a gun? We've heard that you and your friends thought that you were going to have an adventure but when you got handed the guns you might have thought something different.

Did you ever get really hot so that you had to pour water on your head. We learned that some soldiers cut their clothes because it was hot. Did you do that?

How did you feel to see your  friends die? You must have thought it was going to happen to you.
How did it feel with rats and lice in the trenches? It must have seemed like they were  taking over.

What went through your mind when bullets flew past your head or when bombs exploded? We now know that war was a very terrible place. What was it like with blood everywhere? No man's land must have looked pretty creepy.

I want you to know that you are not forgotten. Thank you for being at war not just to save me but to save the world, to make it a better place.

From someone that will always remember you.
Yours sincerely Annalise.

A Journey Through The Mind of Annalise

A few weeks ago our class started writing a story about ourselves. The stories we made a really good here is mine.

A journey through the mind of Annalise.

Take a trip inside my mind, were all things are wacky and all things kind.

At times my mind shuts down and I don’t know what to do but then it turns back on and I’m fine with what I do,

I have a dog and her name is Daisy. She sits on the cushions and that makes mum crazy but I think it’s funny.

I dream of a land called candy land full of chocolate and lollies and all things grand. I think I would build a gingerbread house  full of marshmallows and then every day of the year I would chomp a bit off my house.

I wonder if in the future there will be a lolly shop down every street, it would be a nightmare for my brother.

My hope is that everyone lived in peace and that in the future t.v’s would give you chocolate.

I can often be found  saying “I’m bored” to my mum and that makes her really annoyed.

When no one is watching I steal some cookies from the cookie box and then run into my bedroom and then munch them down until there,s nothing left.

This year will be the best year at Havelock North Primary because I have the teachers that I wanted and as a year 6 I hope to be happy.
